Norma Gallagher started teaching Chemistry at WHS in 1984. She earned her undergraduate degree from Emmanuel College, her Masters in Education from the University of Massachusetts, and her 6th year degree from Central CT State University. In addition, Norma was named teacher of a Presidential Scholar and teacher of a Governor’s Scholar in 2005. |

Nan Lamm has been an elementary teacher and social worker in Wethersfield since 1985. She attended the University of Vermont and Queens College, earned two Masters degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and the UCONN School of Social Work, and has a certificate in Family Therapy from Smith College. Nan is professionally active in the CT Association of School Social Workers, the National Association of Social Workers, and the Mental Health Association of Connecticut. At WHS, Nan has facilitated parent group meetings for multi-handicapped children, has been a member of the Circle of Friends program, and has worked with the 9th Grade team as well as the Wethersfield Youth Advisory Council. Over the years, Nan has been well known for her work with parents in helping them acclimate their children to school. |

Erik Stenson started his Wethersfield teaching career in 1983 at WHS and SDMS as a Guitar and Music Spectrum Teacher. He has also taught elementary Instrumental Music and Middle School Band. Erik earned his undergraduate English degree from the University of Massachusetts and a Music Education degree from the University of Hartford. |

Michael Sullivan as the head custodian at Wethersfield High School, Mr. Sullivan is involved in all aspects of the building. He has been a contributor to past and ongoing renovations at WHS and was, most recently, a contributor to the educational specifications being created for future use. Mr. Sullivan has supervised asbestos abatement, hazardous waste removals and other circumstances that enhance the safety of students at Wethersfield High School. Mr. Sullivan plays a key role in the coordination and use of WHS by outside agencies. Mr. Sullivan enjoys great rapport with the students and the staff members and is readily available when his services are required. |

Margaret (Peggy) DelMastro has worked as a cashier and record keeper for the school lunch program since 1979. She was recognized as a “Be a Start for Chartwells” in 2004 and was named Employee of the Year at Wethersfield High School in 2009. Peggy says, “The administration, faculty, and all of the employees have always made me feel like a welcome part of the school. The students have always treated me with kindness and respect.” |

William Embacher, Technology Education Teacher at Wethersfield High School, started working in Wethersfield in 1979 at the Webb Junior High School. Throughout the years, Bill taught Adult Education, summer enrichment classes, Drivers Education, Manufacturing and Construction Classes, and was in charge of set construction for the school plays. He was named by Central CT State University as one of the top ten recruiters for the field of teaching Technology Education and received an award from the University of Vermont for outstanding achievement in teaching. |

Susan Fennelly has been Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) at Wethersfield High School since 1979. She has served as President, Vice President, and Secretary for the CT Association of Physics Teachers and is also a member of the CT Science Teachers Assn., the National Science Teachers Assn., and the American Academy of Physics Teachers. Susan earned her undergraduate degree from Regis College, her Masters from St. Joseph College and her Certificate of Advanced Study from Wesleyan University. Susan has served on the CT State Science Advisory Committee that developed the CT Science Standards and the CAPT Science exams. In addition, she has been a BEST mentor and Cooperating Teacher. In 2003, Sue was awarded the Presidential Award for Science Teaching. She has also been awarded the Ensign Bickford Star Award, the Wethersfield PEER Award, the Wethersfield Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year Award, the CT Celebration of Excellence Award, and the Wethersfield Teacher of the Year Award. |

Linda Yarrow taught Mathematics at WHS for 10 years, took a 9 year hiatus to teach at Central CT State University, and then came back to WHS to spend the last 20 years as a Math teacher. She is a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics and the Association of Teachers of Math in New England. She has served as a BEST Mentor and has worked on various curriculum committees. Linda participated in the NEASC accreditation of WHS in 1970, 1980, 1990, and 2000. She served as high school class advisor for several years and had the 1974 WHS yearbook dedicated to her. |

Maurice “Moe” Cattanio has been a resident of Wethersfield for 54 years. Before coming to Wethersfield High School, he was product manager for the Fuller Brush Company for 25 years. He has served as Treasurer and Engineer for the Wethersfield Fire Department and is the oldest active member of Company #3. In 1982, he was given the Life Saving Award for pulling women from a burning building.

Barbara Granato began her teaching career in 1974 at Highcrest and moved to Charles Wright in 1983, where she has remained to date. Bobbie earned her Bachelors degree in Child Development from Stonehill College and her Masters in Reading from Central Connecticut State University. During the 2000-2001 school year, she was featured in a University of Connecticut reading/research project that used videotapes of her classroom instruction to teach undergraduates the techniques of teaching reading. This video is used worldwide in colleges and universities. Bobbie has facilitated many, many professional development programs in Wethersfield, most recent being focused on the “push in” model for inclusion with Principal Sheila Way. In 2005, she was named Teacher of the Year by the Wethersfield Chamber of Commerce, and since 1977 she has been writing, producing and directing 2nd Grade plays. |

Margaret Leone started in 1974 in a Transitional First Grade Class. Since 1996 she has been at Highcrest, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2007-2008. Margaret graduated from Wethersfield High School and went on to earn her undergraduate and Masters degrees from Central CT State University. Over the years, Margaret has been involved in curriculum development in Math, Health, and Reading; she has taught summer school for the past 12 years, and is an active member of the Highcrest School Instructional Improvement and Data Team committees.

Elaine Paradise began teaching at Hanmer School in 1974. She has taught grade, 5, 6 and 2 and, in her own words, “Tries to do what’s best for the children.” Elaine earned her undergraduate degree from Southern CT State University, her Masters at Central Ct State University and a second Masters at Fairfield University. |

Edward Pontbriant started as a traveling Elementary Art Teacher in 1976. Since 1980, he has taught at SDMS and WHS. Over the years, Edward coached Freshman Football, Freshman Girls Basketball, assisted with coaching Girls Track and Field, and supervised Intramurals at SDMS. He has participated in the Town-wide Art show and has constructed and installed stained glass windows in the Holy Family Church in Hebron. |

Mary Ann Fortin started her teaching career at Charles Wright School and continues there today as a 1st Grade teacher. She earned her undergraduate degree at St. Joseph College, her Masters at Central CT State University, and 30 credits above a Masters degree at the University of Hartford and New England University. Over the years, Mary Ann has presented on numerous times at the CT Reading Association and the New England Reading Association. She has also presented the Writer’s Workshop Model in Bloomfield, Wethersfield and Windsor. In 1998, Mary Ann was recognized as Teacher of the Year by the Learning Disabilities Association and Teacher of the Year for Charles Wright School. She was nominated for the Disney Hand Teacher Award in 2004 and received the Wethersfield Peer Award in 2003. In addition, Mary Ann has contributed her many, many teaching talents to our Wethersfield summer school for years. She has also worked on several curriculum writing committees, including Heath, Mathematics, and English Language Arts. Last but certainly not least, Mary Ann has taught summer schools for many years and has authored many poems and stories to enhance the learning of primary students. |

David Kenyon started his teaching career in 1969 at Charles Wright as a student teacher. At that time, he also met another special teacher who became his life-long partner at Charles Wright and at home. David has taught 6th, 5th, 4th and 3rd grades at Charles Wright. He has supervised Summer School since 2006, was named Charles Wright Teacher of the Year in 2003 and won the PEER Award in 2008. Mr. Kenyon is the consummate professional who makes history come alive for his students. His calm, caring demeanor endears him to students and parents alike and his students always achieve at high levels. He is a collaborator and consistent contributor to grade level and faculty meetings and stands in as administrator in charge when the principal needs to be out of the building. Over the years, David Kenyon has certainly left his indelible mark on the Wethersfield School Community. |

Nola Mohrman started her teaching career in 1969 and taught grades K, 1, 2, 3, and 5th grades. In 1987 she moved to Charles Wright, where she taught 4th grade until 2002. She moved to Hanmer School ,where she currently teaches 4th Grade. Nola earned her undergraduate and a Masters degree from Central CT State University and a 6th Year from Fairfield University. In 1986, she was awarded the Mainstream Teacher of the Year Award and the Wethersfield Distinguished Educator Award. She has served as facilitator and presenter for Grade 2 Science.

Santino Pollicita is seen as a role model and mentor for all the World Language teachers (and all teachers) at Wethersfield High School. He is always the model of decorum and professionalism. Mr. Pollicita is the advisor for the Italian National Honor Society. He has served the school system as a teacher department leader and also played a prominent role for the Wethersfield Federation of Teachers. Most recently, Mr. Pollicita was featured on WFSB’s “Cool Schools” program for his interaction with the Italian students and the Italian Honor Society. |
