Teacher of the Year:

Ann  Barton: Mrs. Barton can be described as a dedicated World Language teacher who teaches with passion and energy.  She is thorough and hard working and is willing to devote extra time to give her students the support they need.  In addition to her own teaching responsibilities, Ann is always willing to assist in her department.  She has been a valuable resource to both long-term and short-term substitute teachers.  Mrs. Barton is a “shining” example of a talented, caring and reflective educator.

Support Personnel:

Margaret (Peggy) Harding:  Mrs. Harding has been an outstanding employee at Wethersfield High School for over 14 years, most recently as the Attendance Secretary.  She can be described as a dedicated, dependable, hard-working and competent individual who can always be counted on to do whatever is necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the office.  As a Wethersfield resident and long-time employee of the Board of Education, Mrs. Harding’s knowledge base makes her an invaluable asset to Wethersfield High School .

Parent:

Nancy AndrewsNancy Andrews has been an active supporter of the WHS band program for the past 7 years.   During this time, she has served as president of the Wethersfield Instrumental Music Boosters, working tirelessly to promote the band within the community.   She has volunteered countless hours to the safety and success of the students on several trips, locally and abroad, as head chaperone.  She is at every event supporting the students and continuously rallies the help of other band parents to support the program with a full community effort.  Mrs. Andrew’s involvement with the band program has been instrumental to the program’s success and the strength of the Booster organization.

Students:

Alex Tougas:  Alex has a thirst for knowledge that is unsurpassed by his peers.  There is no detail that is overlooked by this National Honor Society member and he is never satisfied until he has gained a thorough understanding of any given topic.  Conscientious, analytical, eager to learn, and Alex is every educator’s dream.  His teachers have consistently commented on his love of education, desire to excel, willingness to help others, and commitment to follow through on his word.  Alex is also a talented pianist and performs with the Honors Orchestra. Seeing Alex receive the State of Connecticut Governor’s Scholar Award last year was a proud moment for all that have been involved in his education, especially his parents. 

Bridget Cloonan:  As class president, captain of the swim team, and a delegate to Laurel Girls’ State, Bridget is a natural leader and an ideal role model for her peers.  Her leadership style, impeccable integrity and her innate ability will allow her to follow her dream to work in the medical field. She has the intellectual, emotional and motivational capacity to change our world.  Bridget always gives forth one hundred percent effort in all aspects of her life.  She is an intuitive and empathetic listener who is destined to be a leader of tomorrow.
