Teacher of the Year: KAREN WILSON In 1999, Karen Wilson started her teaching career in East Hartford and came to Wethersfield in 2005. She earned her undergraduate degree from St. Joseph College and two Masters, one in Science Education from Central CT State University and one from the University of New England in General Studies. With two young children, Karen does not have much free time. However, she has managed to help organize the Webb courtyard renovation by recruiting her husband’s company to help with the work. She also organized the after-school garden club to help with the upkeep of the courtyard and to continue making improvements. She also recently participated in the Keane Memorial 5K Walk/Run to raise money for the community center here in town. Karen says, “It is my belief that all educators should make it their priority to teach the whole child. When students feel cared about and are recognized for who they are, they are more likely to succeed.” Karen adds, “It is my hope that all of the students in my class have a strong desire to be kind, cooperative, and hard working to the best of their ability because they want to, not because they have to.” |

Support Staff: Linda Lucibella Mrs. Lucibella has been a paraprofessional in the district for many years. Although paraprofessional by title does not do justice to all of the ways in which Linda has impacted the school community. She was also a parent volunteer for the Webb while her youngest son attended Webb. She has provided teachers with whatever support or instructional materials they needed and never missed a beat. Linda is one of those people with amazing intuition and knows what someone else needs probably before they even know. Her willingness to pitch in wherever it is needed is truly appreciated by the teachers that she has worked with over the years. |
